Which Pokemon you cannot catch in Cobblemon

Some Pokemon have no natural spawn in Cobblemon. The full list of species and dex ranges, and how TalonMC surfaces legendaries instead.

Before committing to a long hunt, check your target actually spawns. A number of species are not naturally catchable in Cobblemon, and no amount of biome preparation changes that.

This is a Cobblemon situation, not a TalonMC one

Cobblemon implements models, moves and stats for more species than it gives natural spawn conditions to. Some are implemented but never placed in a spawn pool, some are tied to mechanics the mod has not built, and some are awaiting a future release. The list below reflects the state of the mod rather than a restriction TalonMC applied.

Servers can and do add their own routes to these species through events, missions, crates and boss content, so "not naturally catchable" is not the same as "you can never own one".

The list

Species or dex rangeWhat it covers
DiancieMythical, no natural spawn
VolcanionMythical, no natural spawn
Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, Tapu FiniThe four Alolan guardian deities
793 to 807The Ultra Beasts and the species grouped with them
Kubfu, UrshifuTied to a tower mechanic the mod does not implement
ZarudeMythical, no natural spawn
Landorus, Thundurus, TornadusThe Forces of Nature trio
984 to 995Paradox forms, both ancient and future
1005 to 1017Later Paldean legendaries and DLC species
1020 to 1025The most recent additions to the national dex

Any of these can be looked up on our Cobblemon Pokedex, which flags species with no natural spawn directly on the page. That is still useful for species you cannot catch, because knowing what a Paradox form does matters if you meet one in a battle.

How TalonMC handles legendaries instead

  • Legendary Monuments place legendary encounters at world locations. They are contested, so finding one starts a race. Whoever lands the ball keeps the Pokemon.
  • Legendary mission chains are multi-step objectives ending in an encounter, rewarding consistent play rather than luck.

Checking before you commit

  1. Check the species on the Pokedex before starting a hunt, especially for newer generations.
  2. If it is legendary or mythical, assume it comes from server content rather than the wild until you see otherwise.
  3. If it is a Paradox form or above dex 1000, treat it as unavailable in the wild.
  4. Ask in the Discord. Event routes open and close, and the community knows what is currently live.

None of this affects shiny hunting for ordinary species, which is purely a volume game. See shiny hunting and catching and spawns.
