How Cobblemon spawning works

Cobblemon does not place Pokemon by biome name. It places them by biome tag, which is a group of biomes that share a character. Is volcanic or is grassland are tags; Plains and Sunflower Plains are the actual biomes inside one. That is why a species can appear in a biome nobody ever lists for it, and why modded biomes often work without anyone adding support.

On top of the biome, a spawn can require a time of day, weather, a light level, a Y range, or nearby blocks. Every one of those is listed on the pages below, and on each species page.

Finding a specific Pokemon

Start from the species page. Every one of our 1,025 species pages lists its exact spawn biomes, rarity tier, level range and conditions.
Rarity tiers matter more than biome. An ultra-rare in the right biome is still a long hunt. Common, Uncommon, Rare and Ultra rare are the four tiers.
Some species have no spawn at all. Those are evolution-only or breeding-only, and legendaries are usually gated behind server events instead. See how legendaries work.
Servers edit spawns. These are the mod defaults. A server running custom spawn pools will differ, so check its rules.
