How Cobblemon spawning works

Cobblemon does not place Pokemon by biome name. It places them by biome tag, which is a group of biomes that share a character. Is volcanic or is grassland are tags; Plains and Sunflower Plains are the actual biomes inside one. That is why a species can appear in a biome nobody ever lists for it, and why modded biomes often work without anyone adding support.

On top of the biome, a spawn can require a time of day, weather, a light level, a Y range, or nearby blocks. Every one of those is listed on the pages below, and on each species page.

Individual biomes

Named directly by at least one spawn rule.

Finding a specific Pokemon

  • Start from the species page. Every one of our 1,025 species pages lists its exact spawn biomes, rarity tier, level range and conditions.
  • Rarity tiers matter more than biome. An ultra-rare in the right biome is still a long hunt. Common, Uncommon, Rare and Ultra rare are the four tiers.
  • Some species have no spawn at all. Those are evolution-only or breeding-only, and legendaries are usually gated behind server events instead. See how legendaries work.
  • Servers edit spawns. These are the mod defaults. A server running custom spawn pools will differ, so check its rules.
