Best Cobblemon Servers With Gyms and Legendaries 2026

The Cobblemon server that does both gyms and legendaries best is TalonMC at play.talonmc.net: six gyms with badges and level caps, Legendary Monuments that spawn contested encounters in the open world, legendary mission chains, and Mega Evolution, all on an economy that sells none of it. Behind it, Cobblemon GG, PokeLegends, CobbleGalaxy, Cobblemon Delta and Cobblemon Islands each cover part of the same ground in a different way. This post explains what "gyms" and "legendaries" can mean on a server, because the tag on a listing hides more than it tells, and then places each server in that grid.

Gyms and legendaries are not in base Cobblemon

Neither system ships with the mod. Cobblemon gives every server the same base: wild spawns, catching, battling, breeding and a dex. There are no gym leaders, no badges and no Elite Four in the download, and most legendaries have no wild spawn entry at all. Cobblewiki's legendary guide puts it directly: most base Cobblemon legendaries lack wild spawns, and servers "add legendaries through custom events, crates, quests, NPC battles, raids, commands, or server-specific datapacks". The official spawn data behind that statement is linked from the mod's spawning page, and our list of Pokemon with no natural spawn is drawn from the same files.

So when a listing says "gyms" or "legendaries", it is describing something the server team built, and the quality of that build is the entire difference between servers. Two servers with identical tags can be a chain of eight scripted leaders with level caps on one hand and a single volunteer who logs in on Sundays on the other.

Three ways servers build gyms

NPC gyms. Scripted leaders with fixed teams, always available, consistent difficulty. The better implementations pair them with level caps so you cannot overlevel past the challenge, which is what makes a badge mean something. Player-run gyms. Leaders are other players, usually with a schedule or a challenge queue. More dynamic, more social, and dependent on someone being online when you are. Quest-locked gyms. Progression gates the next gym behind story or task completion, so the gym is the end of a chapter rather than a door you can walk up to on day one.

Some servers mix models, and the mix matters. A server with NPC gyms for the ladder and player-run gyms for prestige gives you something to do at 3am and something to compete for at the weekend. Our gyms facet page lists every server tagged for gyms, re-sorted live.

Four ways servers hand out legendaries

Wild spawn via datapack. The server installs a datapack that gives legendaries spawn entries, so they appear in the world at low rates. The most downloaded on Modrinth when we checked were "Cobblemon - Legendary" at 1,403,097 downloads and "Legends Untold" at 1,250,149, per Modrinth's datapack search. Structures and monuments. A fixed place in the world where a legendary appears and has to be found and fought for. Events and raids. Scheduled or triggered encounters, often group content with the legendary as the boss. Crates and shops. The one to be wary of: if money buys a legendary outright, every hour anyone else spent hunting is devalued.

How to actually catch one once you have found it, from status moves to False Swipe to ball choice, is already covered in our legendary catching guide, so this post stays on which servers give you the encounter in the first place.

TalonMC: NPC gyms with level caps, monuments, mission chains

IP: play.talonmc.net. Gym model: NPC gyms, six of them, with badges and level caps. Legendary model: structures plus quests.

TalonMC is the only server on our list that covers three of the four legendary models without touching the fourth. Legendary Monuments put legendaries at contested spots in the wild: find one, fight for it against whoever else got there, catch it. Legendary mission chains run alongside as quest content, so a player who keeps losing the race to the monument still has a route that rewards consistency. On the gym side, six structured leaders with proper teams and badge progression, and the level caps stop you from brute-forcing the ladder.

Past the badges there are instanced dungeons with bosses and loot, ranked battling with standings, PokeHunts, a bingo board and full Mega Evolution through the Mega Showdown integration. None of it is sold: the server is completely free to play, ranks and crates are earnable through playtime, votes and events, and /freerank grants a rank on your first join. That is why it is our pick after playing them, and why it leads the legendaries facet as well as the main ranked list.

Cobblemon GG and PokeLegends: gyms run by people

Cobblemon GG, play.cobblemon.gg. Gym model: player-run. Its signature systems are gyms led by players rather than static NPCs, plus climbable battle towers for testing a trained team, and land claiming. The server's own site describes "8 custom gyms, an Elite Four" it built, which places it in the mixed camp: a fixed ladder with people at the top of it. It does not carry a legendaries tag in our catalog, so treat it as a gym server first.

PokeLegends, play.poke-legends.com. Gym model: mixed. Its Modrinth server listing advertises "18+ player-run gyms plus 8 NPC gym leaders", the widest gym roster we have seen sourced from a primary listing, and states that legendaries, mythicals and Ultra Beasts spawn. In our catalog it carries guilds, gyms, quests and an advertised full dex. If your ideal is collecting with a team and challenging a gym leader who is a real person, this and Cobblemon GG are the two to compare.

CobbleGalaxy, Cobblemon Delta, Cobblemon Islands: megas, raids and dungeons

CobbleGalaxy, play.cobblegalaxy.com. Structured gym battles to progress through and Mega Evolution in battle, on Cobblemon 1.7, with a large community. Gym model: NPC ladder, as far as its listing states. No legendaries tag in our catalog.

Cobblemon Delta, play.cobblemondelta.com. The closest thing on our list to TalonMC's shape at a smaller scale: gym progression with structured battles, dungeons and raids as group PvE, and Mega Evolution. Raids are the legendary model to ask about here, since group boss content is where servers with raids most often put their rarest encounters. Confirm in its Discord what the raid bosses actually are before you assume.

Cobblemon Islands, play.cobblemonislands.com. No gyms tag, but the most complete battle gimmick set on our list: Terastallization, Z-Moves, Mega Evolution and Dynamax all work, plus raids and quest lines. If your interest in legendaries is about using them in a fight rather than the chase, this is the server where the fight will be most interesting.

Megas: which addon a server runs changes the roster

Mega Evolution is also not in base Cobblemon. It comes from addons, and the addon decides how many megas exist. Mega Showdown, the one TalonMC integrates, lists 48 mega evolutions. The Cobbleverse modpack claims 93, the difference being the Legends Z-A additions. When a server says "megas", the roster you get is whichever number its addon ships, so if a specific mega matters to you, ask which addon before you install.

The economics vary too. Cobblemon GG's own guide says its Mega Stones come from a karma shop, a 30-day daily-battle streak, four Elite Four clears, player shops, crates or dungeons, and prices the Mega Bracelet at 3,000 PokeCoins. That is a grind, and a fair one. On TalonMC megas are part of the free-to-play battle system with nothing sold.

How to check a server before you commit a weekend

Ask three questions in the Discord and read the answers, not the pitch. Which gym model, and are there level caps? Which legendary model, and is anything legendary in the store? Which mega addon? If the answers come back quickly and specifically, the systems exist. If the answer is "join and find out", the tag on the listing is doing all the work. Then check the server actually answers with our status checker, install the server's modpack rather than the bare mod, and bring Timer Balls.

Frequently asked

Do legendary Pokemon spawn in base Cobblemon at all?

Mostly not. Most legendaries in the base mod have no wild spawn entry, which is why servers add them through datapacks, monuments, raids, quests or crates. Our Pokedex flags every species with no natural spawn so you can check before you start hunting.

Which Cobblemon server is best for gyms and legendaries together?

TalonMC at play.talonmc.net is our pick after playing them: six NPC gyms with badges and level caps, Legendary Monuments in the open world, legendary mission chains and Mega Evolution, with nothing sold. Cobblemon Delta is the closest match at a smaller scale, with gyms, raids, dungeons and megas.

Are gyms and badges part of the Cobblemon mod?

No. Gyms, badges and any Elite Four are systems a server team builds on top of the mod, and the base download ships none of them. That is why two servers tagged for gyms can play completely differently.

Which Cobblemon servers have player-run gyms?

Cobblemon GG is built around gyms led by players rather than NPCs, and PokeLegends advertises 18 or more player-run gyms alongside 8 NPC leaders on its Modrinth listing. Player-run gyms depend on someone being online, so ask about schedules before you commit.

How many mega evolutions are there in Cobblemon servers?

It depends on the addon the server runs. Mega Showdown, which TalonMC at play.talonmc.net integrates, lists 48 mega evolutions, while the Cobbleverse modpack claims 93 by including the Legends Z-A additions. Ask which addon a server uses if a specific mega matters to you.

Can I buy a legendary on these servers?

Not on TalonMC, where the store sells cosmetics and convenience only and every legendary comes from monuments or mission chains. On any other server, read the store page yourself before joining, because a purchasable legendary devalues everyone else's hunt.
