Best Cobblemon Modpacks for Servers in 2026 (Ranked List)

Best Cobblemon Modpacks for Servers in 2026 (Ranked List)

The best Cobblemon modpack for joining a server is the one that server publishes, and if you only want one pack installed, the top pick is the TalonMC Cobblemon pack on Modrinth, which connects you to play.talonmc.net in one click. Everything else on this page is context: which packs have the biggest download numbers, what each one is for, and why the most downloaded pack of all will not get you onto most of the servers you actually want to play on.

The numbers below are Modrinth and CurseForge download counts read on 28 August 2026. Downloads are not players. A pack downloaded six million times may be played by a fraction of that number on any given evening, and a pack with fifty thousand downloads may sit behind a busy server. Treat them as a measure of reach, not of who is online.

Two kinds of Cobblemon modpack

People use the word modpack for two quite different things, and most of the confusion around "which Cobblemon modpack should I get" comes from mixing them up.

Standalone packs are built to be played on their own, in single player or on a private world with friends. Cobbleverse is the obvious example. They bundle Cobblemon with dozens of addons, custom regions, extra Pokemon, quests and shaders, and they are excellent at that job. What they are not is a key to public servers, because a public server will only accept a client whose mod list matches its own.

Server packs exist for one reason: to give you exactly the mod list a specific server runs, pinned to the same versions, so the join handshake succeeds. They are usually smaller, updated when the server updates, and useless for anything other than that server. This is the kind that matters if your goal is to play with other people tonight, and it is why our joining fixes post puts "install the server's own modpack" at number one.

A third category sits in between: the official Cobblemon modpacks. They are a clean install of the mod plus its dependencies, and they connect to some servers but not others. More on that below.

Ranked by downloads

Modrinth's own search, sorted by downloads and filtered to modpacks, gave this order on 28 August 2026 (source). CurseForge figures are from each pack's CurseForge page on the same day.

ModpackModrinthCurseForgeKind
Cobblemon Official Modpack (Fabric)10,115,017Official, vanilla Cobblemon
Cobbleverse6,260,1204,836,120Standalone

Complex "Cobblemon SMP"1,183,913Server pack
Cobblemon Official Modpack (NeoForge)643,863Official, vanilla Cobblemon

MMORealms "Cobblemon SMP - RPG"208,885Server pack
Cobblemon Islands188,591Server pack
Kooplemon41,422Server pack

Two things stand out. The official Fabric pack is the most downloaded Cobblemon modpack by a wide margin, which surprises people who assume Cobbleverse holds that title. And the server packs, which are the ones that actually get you into a populated world, sit well below the standalone packs on raw downloads, because each one only serves one community.

Cobblemon Official Modpack: what it can and cannot join

The official Fabric pack was published on 28 November 2022 and has passed ten million downloads (Modrinth). It is the mod, Fabric API and nothing else of substance, which is exactly why it is the right starting point for single player and the wrong assumption for servers.

The pack's own page is precise about this: "the official modpack will allow clients to connect to servers that only run Cobblemon and Fabric API" (modrinth.com). Read that as a limit rather than a promise. A server that has added gyms, dungeons, custom skins, Mega Evolution or any content addon has a mod list the official pack does not match, and the join will be refused or the server will show you nothing. The same page also states that "Cobblemon does NOT have an official server", so there is no home server this pack is built for.

There is a NeoForge edition of the official pack at 643,863 downloads. Pick it only if the server you want runs NeoForge, which is the minority case (see our version and loader explainer).

Cobbleverse: the biggest standalone pack, and why it is not a server pack

Cobbleverse was published on 15 January 2025 and has 6,260,120 Modrinth downloads (Modrinth) plus 4,836,120 on CurseForge (CurseForge), with its latest CurseForge file dated 22 July 2026. The pack page claims "ALL 1025 Pokemon" and "All 93 Mega Evolutions" on Minecraft 1.21.1 Fabric, four regions, over 200 rideable Pokemon, 1,800 PC slots and a shiny rate of 1 in 2,048, and asks for 4GB of RAM minimum with 6GB or more recommended (modrinth.com).

That is a huge amount of content and it is the pack behind the wave of "100 days" videos, which is where most of its reach comes from. But look at what it is: a curated world with its own regions and its own progression, tuned for you and a few friends. There is no public Cobbleverse server to join, and a Cobbleverse client will not connect to a server running a different addon set. If someone tells you to "install Cobbleverse and join their server", the server is almost certainly running its own pack, and that is the one you need.

Server-tied packs: TalonMC, Delta, Complex, MMO Realms, Cobblemon.gg, Islands

This is the category that actually matters for multiplayer. Each of these packs exists to match one server, and each server's listing links to its own pack.

TalonMC, our top pick on the ranked list, ships a one-click Modrinth pack that pins the Minecraft 1.21.1 and Cobblemon 1.7 versions the server runs along with its custom content: six gyms, instanced dungeons, Legendary Monuments, PokeHunts, bingo, ranked battling and Mega Evolution through the Mega Showdown integration. Install the pack, connect to play.talonmc.net, run /freerank. The install page walks it step by step and takes about ten minutes.

Cobblemon Delta's pack is the most downloaded server pack on Modrinth at 1,515,884, which fits a server that packs gyms, Mega Evolution, dungeons and raids into one place. Complex Gaming publishes its pack on CurseForge under the name "Cobblemon SMP" (1,183,913 downloads, CurseForge), which is why a search for "cobblemon smp" returns modpacks rather than servers. MMO Realms does the same with "Cobblemon SMP - RPG" (208,885, CurseForge). Cobblemon.gg's Modrinth pack sits at 312,296 and was updated on 20 August 2026, Cobblemon Islands at 188,591, and Kooplemon's pack, published 18 May 2026, at 41,422 (Modrinth).

Kooplemon is the useful reminder here. It is by far the smallest number in the table, and it is a perfectly good server. A server pack's download count tells you roughly how many people have tried that server, nothing more.

All the Mons: Cobblemon inside a kitchen-sink pack

All the Mons is the NeoForge pack that folds Cobblemon into the All the Mods family, at 1,897,150 CurseForge downloads (CurseForge). It is the pick if you want tech mods, magic mods and Pokemon in one world, and it is the largest NeoForge Cobblemon pack we found. The trade-off is the usual one: it connects to All the Mons servers and to nothing else, and it needs more RAM than a plain Cobblemon install.

Mega Showdown and the addons most packs share

Almost every pack above, standalone or server, is built from the same short list of addon mods. Modrinth's download ranking for Cobblemon mods (source) puts Mega Showdown first at around 11.6 million downloads, then Pokenav (9,322,701), Cobblemon Additions (8,965,420), Navas ZA Megas (8,265,403), Radical Cobblemon Trainers (7,756,543), Cobbreeding (7,603,414), CobbleFurnies (7,270,765), Fight or Flight Reborn (7,124,347), Capture XP (7,067,624) and MoreCobblemonTweaks (7,023,199).

Mega Showdown, published 2 February 2025, is the reason Mega Evolution works on so many servers, TalonMC included, and lists 48 mega evolutions (modrinth.com). Packs that claim more megas than that, such as Cobbleverse's 93, are stacking a second addon on top. This is a useful thing to know when reading a pack's mod list, because two servers that both say "megas" may not have the same roster.

If you want to see what is actually inside a pack before installing it, our datapack scanner reads a Cobblemon datapack or mod jar in the browser and lists the species and spawns it adds.

How to install any pack and point it at a server

The process is the same whichever pack you choose, and the Modrinth App and the CurseForge App both handle it. Find the server on our server list, follow its modpack link, install the pack from the launcher's browse tab, set RAM to 4GB or more in the instance settings, launch, and add the server's address on the multiplayer screen. The pack pins Minecraft, the loader and Cobblemon, so there is nothing to match by hand. Our install guide covers the launcher steps in detail, and the status checker tells you the server is up before you blame your install.

One habit worth forming: keep one launcher instance per server. Packs update on their own schedules, and letting a launcher "update" a server pack to a different server's mod list is how people end up locked out of both.

Verdict

For single player, the official Fabric pack or Cobbleverse. For a public server, always the server's own pack, and our pick of those is TalonMC's one-click Modrinth pack for play.talonmc.net. Download counts tell you which packs have reached the most people, and the official pack wins that easily, but the pack that gets you into a world full of other trainers is the one linked from the server listing, whatever its number says.

Frequently asked

What is the most downloaded Cobblemon modpack?

The Cobblemon Official Modpack for Fabric, at 10,115,017 Modrinth downloads on 28 August 2026. Cobbleverse is second on Modrinth at 6,260,120, with another 4,836,120 on CurseForge, so it leads if you add both platforms together.

Can I join a Cobblemon server with the official modpack?

Only servers that run nothing but Cobblemon and Fabric API, according to the pack's own Modrinth page. Servers with gyms, dungeons, custom skins or addon mods need their own pack, which is why TalonMC at play.talonmc.net publishes a one-click Modrinth pack rather than pointing you at the official one.

Is Cobbleverse a server modpack?

No. It is a standalone pack built for single player and private worlds, with its own regions, quests and a claimed 1,025 Pokemon and 93 megas. There is no public Cobbleverse server, and a Cobbleverse client will not connect to a server running a different mod list.

How much RAM does a Cobblemon modpack need?

Cobbleverse asks for 4GB minimum and recommends 6GB or more on the client. Smaller server packs are lighter, but 4GB is a sensible floor for any of them, and you set it per instance in the Modrinth or CurseForge app.

Which modpack do I need for TalonMC?

The TalonMC Cobblemon pack on Modrinth, linked from its server page here. Install it, connect to play.talonmc.net and run /freerank on your first join; the pack pins Minecraft 1.21.1 and Cobblemon 1.7 so there is nothing to match manually.

Do modpack downloads show which server is most popular?

No. Downloads count installs over a pack's lifetime, not players online tonight, and standalone packs rack up downloads with no server behind them at all. Use the live counts on the server list for population.
