Best Way to Play Cobblemon if You Are on Bedrock (2026)
The best and only way to play Cobblemon if you are on Bedrock is to get Java Edition, because Cobblemon is a Java mod that installs on your own client and no Bedrock client, console, phone or crossplay address can load it. We would rather say that in the first line than sell you a list of servers that cannot work. A "Bedrock IP" on a Cobblemon network is real, but it takes a Bedrock player to the network's other gamemodes, not to the Pokemon. That includes our top pick TalonMC: play.talonmc.net runs Cobblemon for Java clients, and the network's Bedrock address reaches its other gamemodes only. This post explains the mechanism, then the cheapest legitimate route across.
If you are already on Java and looking for somewhere to start, our post on the best Cobblemon servers for beginners is the page you want instead of this one.
Straight answer
Cobblemon's Modrinth listing supports exactly three loaders, Fabric, Forge and NeoForge (Modrinth project data). All three are Java Edition mod loaders. There is no Bedrock build, no Bedrock add-on published by the Cobblemon team, and no way to make the Java mod appear in a Bedrock client. Minehut's own server list answers "Is Cobblemon on Bedrock?" with Java Edition only, and notes that Cobblemon does not render on Bedrock clients (Minehut). Every list site that lets you filter "Cobblemon" and "Bedrock" together is filtering on the network, not the mod.
This is not a temporary state. It is a consequence of what a mod is and what Bedrock is, and the next two sections cover why.
Why: Cobblemon is a client-side Java mod
A Minecraft plugin runs only on the server and changes what the server sends. A mod like Cobblemon runs on both sides. The server half handles spawning, battles and saving, but the client half is what draws the Pokemon models, plays their animations, shows the battle interface, the Pokedex, the PC and the summary screens, and knows what a Poke Ball is when you throw one. None of that exists in the vanilla game. Your client has to have Cobblemon installed to see any of it, which is why every Cobblemon server hands you a modpack before it hands you an IP.
Bedrock Edition is a different program. It is written in a different language, uses a different network protocol and a different content system, and there is no Fabric or NeoForge for it. A Bedrock client cannot load a Java mod any more than a phone can run a Windows installer. That is the whole story; everything else is people finding ways around the parts that are not the problem.
What Geyser does and does not do
Geyser is the bridge that lets Bedrock players connect to Java servers, and it is the reason "Bedrock supported" appears on so many Java network listings. It works by translating the Java protocol into the Bedrock protocol on the fly, and for vanilla Minecraft it does that well.
The Geyser project is unusually plain about its limits. Its FAQ states that "currently, there is no way for Geyser to translate the features that most mods add (blocks, items, etc.)" and that "servers that require mods to be installed clientside are unsupportable through Geyser" (Geyser FAQ). Cobblemon requires a client-side install, so it is in the unsupportable category by Geyser's own definition. The bridge can pass a Pokemon entity's position to a Bedrock client, but the client has no model, no texture, no animation and no interface for it, so at best you see nothing where the Pokemon is, and every Cobblemon interaction that opens a screen simply does not happen.
We are not going to speculate about whether that changes some day. Nothing in the Geyser documentation says it will, and a Bedrock client would need to be handed the mod's assets in a format it understands, which is a different product from a protocol bridge.
What happens when a Bedrock player joins a "crossplay" Cobblemon network
Here is the part that misleads people. Large networks run several gamemodes behind one address: a survival server, a skyblock server, a prison server, a Cobblemon server. Geyser sits in front of the whole thing, so a Bedrock player can connect and land in the lobby. From there the Cobblemon mode is either hidden from them or, if they manage to enter it, unplayable for the reasons above. The Bedrock address is honest about the network. It says nothing about Cobblemon.
TalonMC is the clearest example, and worth being precise about because it is our top pick. Its listing on this site says Cobblemon is a Java mod and that the network offers Bedrock crossplay for its other gamemodes, such as Prison, Skyblock and SMP. So a Bedrock player using the network's Bedrock address gets those gamemodes, and does not get Cobblemon. A "Top 5 Cobblemon Servers" video that lists both play.talonmc.net and a Bedrock address for the same network (YouTube) is technically listing two real addresses, but only the first one is a Cobblemon address, and a viewer on a console who copies the second will not find a Pokemon.
The same pattern shows up on smaller networks. One forum listing advertises crossplay for its survival server and, in the same post, a Cobblemon SMP on Fabric 1.21.1 (Minecraft Forum). Both claims are true; they just apply to different servers.
We measured this rather than taking anyone's word for it. Every address on this site was pinged on the Bedrock ports, and the ones that answered are on our Bedrock page with the same caveat printed at the top: a reply proves the network accepts Bedrock clients through a bridge, not that Cobblemon is playable from one. The testing write-up has the full finding.
Console and phone: what your real options are
Xbox, PlayStation and Switch run Bedrock with no mod support of any kind, and there is no route to Cobblemon from them. Phones and tablets are the same. If Cobblemon specifically is what you want, the only path is Java Edition on a PC or Mac, and it is worth saying that plainly rather than pretending a workaround exists.
Bedrock does have its own creature add-ons in the Marketplace and elsewhere, some of them Pokemon-flavoured. They are separate products with their own mechanics, they are not Cobblemon, and we have not tested them, so we are not going to recommend one. If you go that route, judge it as its own thing and do not expect Cobblemon's battle system, Pokedex or the 1,025 species in our Pokedex.
Pixelmon is not an escape hatch either. Pixelmon Reforged runs on NeoForge for Java 1.21.1 (reforged.gg), so it has the identical limitation. Every Pokemon mod for Minecraft is a Java mod.
The cheapest legit path to Java for Cobblemon
If you have a PC or Mac at all, check whether it already has Java Edition before buying anything: open the Minecraft Launcher and look for a Java Edition tab alongside Bedrock. We are not going to quote prices or bundle terms, because those change and we would rather you read Minecraft's own store page than a stale number here.
Hardware is less of a barrier than people expect. Cobblemon renders a lot of entities, so allocate 4GB of RAM to the instance, but it does not need a gaming GPU at default settings. Once Java is installed, a server's one-click modpack does the rest. For TalonMC that is the Modrinth pack on its server page, then connect to play.talonmc.net and run /freerank. The install guide covers the launcher steps, and the status checker pings any address on either the Java or Bedrock port so you can see for yourself which one a server actually answers on.
Signs a listing is misleading you about Bedrock
- A Bedrock IP and port under a Cobblemon server name with no mention of which gamemode it reaches. Ask, in the server's Discord, what a Bedrock client sees. A straight answer is "the lobby and our other modes".
- A "Bedrock" tag applied to a dedicated Cobblemon server with no other gamemodes. There is nothing for a Bedrock player to do there. Either the tag is a list-site default or the server is describing a Java-only bridge test.
- Videos titled "Cobblemon on Bedrock" or "Cobblemon on Xbox". These show Bedrock add-ons, not Cobblemon, or they show a Java client while telling you otherwise.
- Player counts quoted as proof. A crossplay network's count is network-wide. A Bedrock reply and a big number together still do not put a Bedrock player in a Cobblemon world.
None of this makes Bedrock crossplay a bad thing. A network that lets console friends play skyblock with you while you play Cobblemon is offering something real. The problem is only the listing sites and videos that let "Bedrock supported" sit next to "Cobblemon" without saying which server each word applies to.
Verdict
Cobblemon does not run on Bedrock, Geyser cannot make it, and a Cobblemon network's Bedrock address takes you to its other gamemodes. If you are on console or mobile, the honest answer is that Cobblemon is out of reach until you have Java Edition on a computer. When you do, our ranked list starts with TalonMC at play.talonmc.net, and the modpack install takes about ten minutes.
Frequently asked
Is Cobblemon available on Bedrock Edition?
No. Cobblemon is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, all of which are Java Edition mod loaders, and the mod has to be installed on your own client to draw the Pokemon and its screens. There is no Bedrock build and no official Bedrock add-on.
Can I use Geyser to join a Cobblemon server from Bedrock?
Geyser lets Bedrock clients join Java servers, but its own FAQ says it cannot translate the content most mods add and that servers requiring client-side mods are unsupportable through it. You can connect to a network's lobby that way, not to a Cobblemon world.
Why does a Cobblemon server list a Bedrock IP then?
Because the server is one gamemode on a network that also runs survival, skyblock or prison, and the Bedrock address reaches those. TalonMC works this way: play.talonmc.net runs Cobblemon for Java clients, and the network's Bedrock crossplay covers its other gamemodes only.
Can I play Cobblemon on Xbox, PlayStation or Switch?
No. Consoles run Bedrock Edition with no mod support at all, and the same applies to phones and tablets. The only route to Cobblemon is Java Edition on a PC or Mac.
Does Pixelmon work on Bedrock instead?
No. Pixelmon Reforged runs on NeoForge for Java 1.21.1, so it has exactly the same limitation. Every Pokemon mod for Minecraft is a Java mod.
What do I need to play Cobblemon on a server once I have Java?
Java Edition on a computer, a launcher such as the Modrinth App, and the server's own modpack. For TalonMC, install the one-click pack from its server page, connect to play.talonmc.net and run /freerank; the whole setup takes about ten minutes.
